I know we have a few members from the Netherlands. I have need to contact the editor of a Dutch boating magazine <www.waterkampioen.nl> and the usual Google translation is not helping me locate the name/email of the editor. If anyone here can assist, please email me at dritter (at) equipped (dot) org.
Thanks,

Living as I do in tornado alley, I built a storm shelter when I built my latest home. Inside is the BOB / Firearm storage etc. As it is inside the structure of the house, I thought it prudent to store some tools also to aid in getting out if the house fell-in opposed to blowing away. (2 Stanley FUBAR's, fire axe, crow bars, and hand saws)
Just wondered if anyone has any experience with this item I saw today while donating to Home Depot's P&L report.
The company is called Dead On, and for 14" it really looks like it could be useful. The website also showed some speciality tools that look like gas/water cut-off tools combined with pry bars, but couldn't find them later.
Yeah, I know it is one of those jack-of-all trade tools, it masters none (just like Stanley's FUBAR).
Also don't think I want a carbon steel (SPARKING) gas shut off tool.
Tell me what ya'll think.

So with the separate 12v system at my house I`m curious what batteries I should get, and what I should get to make sure they stay charged and good while grid power is active.

I know, "Not another knife question!".
I recently received a Glock Field Knife from a young man who had no use for it. Read "parents caught him with it and gave it to me".
The only experience I have with Glock products are ones that go BANG, or dig holes. It really looks more like a bayonet without the option of being able to attach it to a rifle. As such it may go into the "knife drawer" that holds all of my not-in-use steel.
Does anyone have any time with one of these?

I just found this site with info about a propane explosion that killed six kids, aged 2 to 19. Pretty sad. Safe storage of fuels really is that important.

Yesterday my wife experimented with baking bread in a coffee can in our fireplace, (our oven is on the fritz) and the results were astounding...it was delicious! It was an all-wheat bread and the fire really gave it a great smokey taste. She just had to keep an eye on it so it didnt burn.
I have purchased a grill that can be used over a fire, and soon we'd like to experiment with pizza as well. Steaks of course have been fantastic cooked over the open flames.
I'll see if I can get a recipe for that bread.

This seems to be much more likely than an avian flu pandemic and affects a lot more people every year. With TB being so contagious/airborne, I would guess the preparations and plans to deal with such an event would be similar to an avian flu outbreak?

With gas prices so low, I'm thinking now is the time to store a little extra gasoline. We had a gas shortage here in Asheville a few weeks ago(due to hurricane related supply interuptions) that lasted over a week, and in any case having some extra fuel around seems like a great idea.
However I can't afford an expensive storage tank, and I'm wondering if there is a cheap or free alternative to those 5 gallon red gas containers. Does anyone know if there are some types of plastic containers(i.e. empty laundry detergent or bleach bottles, or foodservice bulk oil containers) that can safely store gasoline? I know that some types of plastic are broken down by gasoline over time, but since gas cans are made out of plastic as well, I'm thinking there must be some kinds that would work. I'd appreciate any input you guys have.
Of course I will use plenty of Sta-bil and store these in a garage away from any sparks or electricity, so no safety speaches are necessary.
